Proper Care for Congestive Heart Failure

Congestive heart failure (CHF) is the inability of the heart to pump blood effectively to the body. CHF does not mean that the heart has stopped working completely, but does mean that the heart is not pumping as strongly as it should. As a result, some of the blood that is normally pumped out of the heart backs up into the lungs and other parts of the body, causing a build-up of fluids in the body (resulting in swelling), shortness of breath and fatigue.
