The French are known to consume a heart clogging diet of cheese, sugar, coffee and white flour – yet have a very low rate of heart disease. This is believed to be due to their significant consumption of red wine and the anthocyanins it contains. Anthocyanins give plants and fruits their vibrant color and act as sunscreen.
