Damage to the lower motor neurons can cause muscle weakness, hyporeflexia and muscle atrophy. Spinal Muscular Atrophy is a motor neuron central disorder. Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is an autosomal recessive genetic central disorder. Survival motor Neuron 1, 2 are the two genes which are present in normal individuals. Spinal Muscular Atrophy is a motor neuron disorder.
